Here Lies: Our Parody Contest
The io.Writing contest is an opportunity to work in a genre which has proven widely popular on the Internet for some time now: the parody. More specifically, this contest is a call for net-related parodies of classic works of literature.
For this first issue, we've selected Gilbert & Sullivan's "I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General." In case you do not have a copy handy, the original can be found here.
By way of example, here are two early submissions:
I Am the Very Model of an Oldbie on the Internet
by Patrick BurtonI Am The Very Model Of A Luddite On The Internet (One Woman's View)
by Sophie Vitkovitsky (aka Daphne)
This contest is intended as a bit of literary fun, and as such there are no prizes to be won whatsoever. Nothing. Not a peanut. Instead, this is simply a forum for those interested to write (and read) some fun and funny works -- and a chance to get your parody reprinted in the next issue of Here Lies.
Please send your contest entry to Patrick Burton by September 15, 1996.
